CHARTERS TOWERS PRIME CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 23RD JULY 2025

Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 3,063 Prime Cattle. The cattle consisted of 744 Bullocks, 286 Heifers, 1,776 Cows and 249 Bulls.

Cattle comprised of a good quality yarding of predominantly Brahman Bullocks and Heavy Feeder Steers, selling to a competitive buying panel. Limited Heifers were yarded but sold to a firm market. Once again, Cows dominated the numbers with isolated pens of finished Cows seeing similar to last week’s rates, but the lighter end lost a little ground easing 5-10c. bulls yarded were very mixed, but export and quality processor Bulls receiving firm competition. The yarding was drawn from Mt Isa, Burketown, Julia Creek, Georgetown, Hughenden, Mt Garnet as well as local and coastal areas.

Prime Quotes: Bullocks were quoted 3-5c easier, Heifers were 5c easier, Cows were 10c easier, and Bulls were unchanged on last weeks rates.

  • Bullocks topped at 326c/kg on A/C S & S Reddie that weighed 588kg to return $1,916 per head.
  • Best priced trade heifers were presented on A/C Heslin & Sons, that sold for 284c/kg and weighed 487kg to return $1,384 per head.
  • The top pen of cows were sold by Cunningham Cattle Co, for 276c/kg, weighing 568kg to return $1,568 per head.
  • Bulls sold on A/C Fletchervale Pastoral Co, topped at 298c/kg and weighed 780kg, to return $2,325 per head.
