CHARTERS TOWERS PRIME & STORE CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 11TH JUNE 2025

Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 2,729 head, consisting of 2,111 Prime Cattle and 618 Store Cattle. The prime cattle consisted of 410 Bullocks, 280 Heifers, 1,261 Cows and 160 Bulls. The store section consisted of 618 Steers only.

Cattle comprised of isolated pens of well finished bullocks. Large runs of heavy slaughter cows and a mixed quality yarding of bulls which sold to live exports and processors. The yarding was drawn from Mount Isa, Cloncurry, Richmond, Hughenden, Croydon, Normanton, Einasleigh, Mount Garnet as well as local and coastal areas.

Prime Quotes: Bullocks were quoted 8-10c easier, heifers were 5c dearer, cows were 5c easier and bulls were 10c easier on last week’s rates.

  • Bullocks topped at 320c/kg sold on A/C Mt Douglas Pastoral Co, “Mt Douglas”, Clermont that weighed 570kg to return $1,824 per head.
  • Best priced trade heifers were presented on A/C Cunningham Cattle Co, Georgetown that sold for 274c/kg and weighed 360kg to return $986 per head.
  • The top pen of cows were sold on A/C Valpre Grazing, Charters Towers, for 270c/kg weighing 624kg to return $1,685 per head.
  • Heavy bulls sold on A/C Brian Moody, Mingela topped at 264c/kg and weighed 650kg, to return $1,716 per head.

Store Quotes: Store cattle were made up of one vendor A/C Rapisarda Enterprises, “Woodhouse Station” Ayr, which sold to repeat backgrounders.

  • A large run of 618 No. 4 Red Brahman steers sold on A/C Rapisarda Enterprises, “Woodhouse Station”, Ayr topped at 310c/kg to average 305c/kg, weighing an average of 337kg to return $1,031 per head.
