CHARTERS TOWERS PRIME & STORE CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 12TH AUGUST 2026

Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 3,396 cattle, consisting of 1,793 prime cattle & 1,603 store cattle. The prime cattle consisted of 601 Bullocks, 376 Heifers, 362 Cows and 207 Bulls. The store cattle consisted of 982 Steers, 621 Heifers, and 245 Mickeys.

Cattle comprised of several larger lines of Bullocks & prime Heifers, a reduced yarding of Cows and an increase in quality runs of store Steers and Heifers on offer. The yarding was drawn from Mt Isa, Cloncurry, Hughenden, Torrens Creek, Normanton, Georgetown, Greenvale and the immediate local draw area.

Prime Quotes: Bullocks were quoted 20¢ easier, Heifers were 10¢ dearer, Cows were 10¢ easier, and Bulls were 20¢ easier on last week’s rates.

  • Bullocks topped at 394.2¢/kg for Charbray Bullocks sold on A/c M & B Davison Investments, Prairie that weighed 543kg to return $2,141 per head.
  • Best Priced trade Heifers were presented on A/c Big Country Helicopters that sold for 346¢/kg and weighed 462kg to return $1,599 per head.
  • The top pen of Cows were sold by P & R Weston for 332¢/kg, weighing 580kg to return $1,926 per head.
  • Bulls sold on A/c Murray Family Trust, “Uanda”, Prairie, topped at 340¢/kg and weighed 758kg, to return $2,581 per head.

Store Quotes: Store cattle comprised of isolated pens of very good quality crossbred weaners with the yarding being dominated by boat weight Brahman type feeders and weaners.
