CHARTERS TOWERS PRIME & STORE CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 13TH MARCH 2026
Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 1,422 cattle, consisting of 526 prime cattle and 896 store cattle. The prime cattle consisted of 62 bullocks, 79 heifers, 317 cows and 20 bulls. The store section consisted of 374 steers and mickeys, 125 heifers and 29 x 29 cows and calves.
Fewer finished cattle were presented this week with the market improving across all lines, better finished cattle selling to improved rates. The yarding was drawn from Burketown, Forsayth, Julia Creek, Hughenden and Greenvale, as well as local and coastal areas.

Bullocks increased 20-40c/kg. Heifers increase 10-20c/kg. Cows increased 10-15c/kg and bulls increased 10-15c/kg.

- Bullocks topped at 370.2c/kg for a pen of 15 bullocks sold on A/c Pedracini Grazing, Scartwater, Charters Towers, weighing 535kg and returning $1,981 per head.
- Best heifers sold for 352.2c/kg for a pen of heifers on A/c AJ & JL Pemble, Southern View, Charters Towers, weighing 438kg to return $1,540 per head.
- A pen of cows sold to 316.2c/kg on A/c KJ & SL Boyd, Clyde Park Road, Porcupine, with an average weight of 548kg to return $1,733 per head.
- Bulls topped at 358.2c/kg on A/c Greengrass Developments, Talavera, Charters Towers, with an average weight of 716kg to return $2,567 per head.
Store Quotes
Store cattle sold to a dearer trend in line with other markets, with solid competition on better types and lines. A larger run of mickey bulls were presented and sold well on the day.

- Heifers topped at 344.2c/kg, sold on A/c AJ & JL Pemble, Southern View, Charters Towers, for an average weight of 349kg to return $1,201 per head.
- 29 x 29 Brahman cross cows solf for JR Priestly, Big Reef, Forsayth made $1,700 per head.
