CHARTERS TOWERS PRIME & STORE CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 16TH SEPTEMBER 2026
Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 3,671 cattle, consisting of 1,968 Prime cattle and 1,691 Store cattle. The Prime cattle consisted of 511 Bullocks, 286 Heifers, 857 Cows and 314 Bulls. The Store cattle consisted of 930 Steers, 340 Mickeys, 421 Heifers and 12 Cows & Calves.
Cattle comprised of isolated pens of good prime cattle, with a large number of mixed pens reflecting the declining season. Despite the uneven quality, competition remained strong with cattle selling to a very firm market. The yarding was drawn from Mt Isa, Chillagoe, Normanton, Cloncurry, Hughenden, Georgetown and Einasleigh as well as local and coastal areas.
Prime Quotes: Bullocks were quoted 10¢ easier, Heifers were 5¢ easier, Cows were firm and Bulls were 9¢ dearer
on last week’s rates.

- Bullocks topped at 404.2¢/kg for 4hd sold on A/c Maitland Grazing, “Oak Valley”, Einasleigh that weighed 637.5kg to return $2,576 per head.
- Best priced Trade Heifers were presented on A/c Lochinvar Grazing Co, Brandon that sold for 388.2¢/kg and weighed 433kg to return $1,682 per head.
- The top pen of Cows were sold by LHRPHC, Lawn Hill Station for 382.2¢/kg, weighing 513kg to return $1,961 per head.
- Bulls sold on A/c LHRPHC, Lawn Hill Station topped at 382.2¢/kg, weighed 502kg, and returned $1,919 per head.
Store Quotes: Feeder cattle attracted strong competition although they were only offered in small lines with the majority of store cattle being good quality lightweight Brahman weaners which sold to local buyers.

- 7 Cows & Calves sold by Eddington Grazing Pty Ltd, “Eddington”, Julia Creek returned $1,910 per unit.
