Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 2,340 cattle, consisting of 1,677 Prime cattle & 663 Store cattle. The Prime cattle consisted of 388 Bullocks, 349 Heifers, 752 Cows and 188 Bulls. The Store cattle consisted of 332 Steers, 211 Mickeys, 115 Heifers, and 5 Cows & Calves.

Cattle comprised of good quality lines of Bullocks and processor Heifers, an increase in quality lines of Cows on offer and good runs of slaughter and export Bulls. The yarding was drawn from Mt Isa, Cloncurry, Richmond, Hughenden, Georgetown, Einasleigh, Greenvale and local and coastal areas.

Prime Quotes: Bullocks were quoted 30¢ dearer, Heifers were 10¢ dearer, Cows were 15-20¢ dearer, and Bulls were 20¢ easier on last week’s rates.

  • Bullocks topped at 396.2¢/kg for Brahman Bullocks sold on A/c Valley Cattle Co, “Valley of Lagoons”, Ingham that weighed 642kg to return $2,546 per head.
  • Best Priced trade Heifers were presented on A/c Allandale Pastoral Co that sold for 384.2¢/kg and weighed 487kg to return $1,871 per head.
  • The top pen of Cows were sold on A/c Riverview Station Pty Ltd for 348.2¢/kg, weighing 520kg to return $1,812 per head.
  • Bulls sold on A/c Riverview Station Pty Ltd topped at 382.2¢/kg and weighed 674.4kg, to return $2,604 per head.

  • A pen of Crossbred Steers A/c Kevin Mara, Charters Towers made 450.2¢/kg and weighed 244kg returning an average of $1,098 per head.
  • A good pen of Heifers on A/c Winsper Family Trust, “Korong” Cloncurry made 348.2¢/kg, weighed 268kg and returned an average of $935 per head.
  • 5 x 5 Cows and Calves ranged from $720 to $1300 per unit.
