CHARTERS TOWERS PRIME & STORE CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 19TH MARCH 2025
Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 2,393 cattle, consisting of 1,550 Prime cattle and 843 Store cattle. The Prime cattle consisted of 180 Bullocks, 293 Heifers, 970 Cows and 107 Bulls. The Store section consisted of 367 Steers, 151 Mickeys, 325 Heifers and 87 x 87 Cows & Calves.
Cattle comprised of good lines of well finished slaughter cattle displaying much more weight and finish than last week, with all categories selling to a dearer trend. All meat works operators were in attendance signaling a shortfall in supply due to the recent rain. The yarding was drawn from Mt Isa, Cloncurry, Hughenden, Prairie, Normanton, Georgetown, and Einasleigh as well as local and coastal areas.
Prime Quotes: Bullocks were quoted 25c dearer, Heifers were 15c dearer, Cows were 30c dearer, and Bulls were 10c dearer on last week’s rates.

- Bullocks topped at 330c/kg sold on A/C LT & CP Curley , “Sutherland Holding”, Georgetown, that weighed 564kg to return $1,861 per head.
- Best priced trade Heifers were presented on A/C JW & CN Gilmore, “Cranford”, Torrens Creek that sold for 292c/kg and weighed 434kg to return $1,268 per head.
- The top pen of Cows were sold on A/C Leumeah Grazing, “Mt Talbot”, Forsayth, for 290c/kg, weighing 475kg to return $1,378 per head.
- Bulls sold on A/C PDBR Pastoral Holding, Mt Isa, that topped at 262c/kg and weighed 800kg, to return $2,097 per head.
Store Quotes: Store market consisted of a relatively mixed quality yarding with prices again reflecting on quality.

- A pen of Heifers on A/C Francis Edgerton, Hughenden made 288c/kg weighed 403kg returning $1,162 per head.
- 87 x 87 Cows & Calves ranged from $550 – $1,360 per unit.
