CHARTERS TOWERS PRIME & STORE CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 20TH MARCH 2026
Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 1,998 cattle, consisting of 728 Prime Cattle & 1,270 Store Cattle. The Prime cattle consisted of 185 Bullocks, 104 Heifers, 356 Cows & 83 Bulls. The Store cattle consisted of 950 Steers, 300 Heifers & 20 Cows & Calves.
Cattle comprised of some good heavy aged Bullocks and and some isolated pens of well-finished Cows. They are of a limited supply in the market as is common throughout the state. Due to some increased prices, we may see some increased numbers of Prime cattle.

Bullocks were quoted 20c dearer, Heifers were 25c dearer, Cows were 25c dearer & Bulls were 20c dearer on last weeks rates.

- Bullocks topped at 380.2C/kg for 20 Brahman Cross sold on A/c Samton Pastoral, that weighed 690kg to return $2,623 per head.
- Best priced Trade Heifers were presented on A/c Christmas Creek Cattle Pty Ltd “Blue Range” Charters Towers, that sold for 376.2c/kg and weighed 527kg to return $1,982 per head.
- The top pen of Cows were sold by A/c Rob Von Wald “Larkspur” Charters Towers, for 350.0c/kg weighing 537 to return $1,882 per head.
- Bulls sold on A/c Greengrass Developments, topped at 368.2c/kg and weighed 820kg to return $3,019 per head.
Store Quotes
Store cattle were of prominently better quality compared to last weeks yarding and sold to a much stronger market due to demand from local, returned southern producers, spurred on by the bigger runs of presented store cattle.

- A good pen of 22 Brangus Heifers on A/c Crawford Equipment Hire, Woodstock, made 386.3c/kg and weighed 281kg returned an average of $1,088 per head.
- 20 x 20 Cows & Calves sold on A/c Mahogany Way Pty Ltd returned $1,300 per unit.
