CHARTERS TOWERS PRIME & STORE CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 23RD APRIL 2025
Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 1,641 cattle, consisting of 755 prime cattle and 886 store cattle. The prime cattle consisted of 204 Bullocks, 119 Heifers, 399 Cows and 33 Bulls. The store cattle consisted of 480 Steers, 22 Mickeys, 366 Heifers and 18 x 18 Cows & Calves.
Cattle comprised of a good yarding of Prime heavyweight Meatworks Ox and well finished Cows which sold to a strong gallery of buyers. The yarding was drawn from Georgetown, Einasleigh, Hughenden, Pentland as well as local and coastal areas.
Prime Quotes: Bullocks were quoted 10c dearer, Heifers were 20c dearer, Cows were 5c dearer, and Bulls were 20c dearer on last week’s rates.

- Bullocks topped at 334.2c/kg for 8 Brahman Ox sold on A/C Geaney’s Pty Ltd, “Cherry Creek”, Charters Towers that weighed 705kg to return $2,356 per head.
- Best priced trade Heifers were presented on A/C Matthews Cattle Co, “Hazelwood”, Hughenden that sold for 304.2c/kg and weighed 538kg to return $1,639 per head.
- The top pen of Cows were sold on A/C Matthews Cattle Co, “Hazelwood”, Hughenden for 288.2c/kg, weighing 637kg to return $1,834 per head.
- Bulls sold on A/C Blackspur Pty Ltd, “Rangeview”, Ravenswood topped at 298.2c/kg and weighed 727kg, to return $2,166 per head.
Store Quotes: Store cattle were made up of some very good quality lines of Steers and Heifers. Locals were pushed along by an additional Western buyer, resulting in a dearer market.

- A good pen of 11 Heifers on A/C RM & SM Clark, “Bletchington”, Charters Towers made 328c/kg weighed 277kg returning $908 per head.
- 18 x 18 Cows & Calves sold in small lots between $800 to $870 per unit.
