CHARTERS TOWERS PRIME & STORE CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 27TH AUGUST 2025

Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 3,034 cattle, consisting of 2,090 Prime Cattle and 945 Store Cattle. The Prime Cattle consisted of 855 Bullocks, 205 Heifers, 849 Cows and 181 Bulls. The Store section consisted of 308 Steers, 205 Mickeys, 431 Heifers and 1 Cow & Calf.

Cattle comprised of a large offering of very well finished, heavy weight meat works Bullocks. Fewer Cows were offered this week resulting in a stronger market. A full panel of processors competed strongly for their respective shares as supply remains limited in the southern states. The yarding was drawn from Mount Isa, Camooweal, Julia Creek, Greenvale, as well as western, local and coastal areas.

Prime Quotes: Bullocks were quoted 10c dearer, Heifers were unchanged, Cows were 10c dearer, and Bulls were unchanged on last week’s rates.

  • Bullocks topped at 386.2c/kg for 15 Brahman Cross sold on A/C LW & NL Miller, weighing 668kg, to return $2,580 per head. The entire run of 108 Bullocks averaged 375.2c/kg, weighing 635.9kg to return $2,388 per head.
  • A pen of 15 Heavy Ox on A/C Turley Cattle Co, “Wandovale”, made 380.2c/kg, weighing 723kg to return $2,748 per head.
  • Best priced Trade Heifers were present on A/C GI Brahman Stud, sold for 356.2c/kg, weighing 504kg to return $1,795 per head.
  • The top pen of Cows was sold on A/C GI Brahman Stud, for 356.2c/kg, weighing 592kg to return $2,110 per head.
  • Bulls sold on A/C Lawn Hill Riversleigh Pastoral Holding Company, topped at 342.2c/kg weighing 670kg, to return $2,293 per head.
  • Heavy weight Bulls A/C Sutton Grazing, Hughenden topped at 326.2c/kg and weighed 890kg, to return $2,903 per head.

Store Quotes: A smaller offering of Store Cattle sold well, with the better-quality pens holding firm. Singles and secondary types were discounted.
