CHARTERS TOWERS PRIME & STORE CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 29TH JULY 2026
Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 3,531 cattle, consisting of 1,904 Prime cattle & 1,627 Store cattle. The Prime cattle consisted of 374 Bullocks, 206 Heifers, 1,185 Cows and 139 Bulls.
The Store section consisted of 915 Steers, 711 Heifers and 2 Cows & Calves.
Cattle comprised of an uneven yarding of Bullocks and prime Heifers with isolated good pens fully firm on last week’s rates. A larger offering of Cows were on hand, but condition and quality were the main reason for a slight softening. Bulls were met with strong competition from exporters and processors. The yarding was drawn from Hughenden, Forsayth, Croydon, Einasleigh, Georgetown, Greenvale as well as local and coastal areas.
Prime Quotes: Bullocks were quoted Firm, Heavy Heifers were 12¢ easier, Heavy Cows were 10¢ easier and Bulls were Firm on last week’s rates.

- A pen of 11 Bullocks sold on A/c Paul Minuzzo, “Borgberos”, Charters Towers made 392.2¢/kg, weighed 801kg and returned $3,141 per head
- Bullocks topped at 398¢/kg on A/c Renkel Pastoral, that weighed 669kg to return $2,664 per head.
- Best priced Trade Heifers were presented on A/c AR & CM French, “Mt Hogan”,
- Einasleigh that sold for 368c/kg and weighed 426kg to return $1,570 per head.
- The top pen of Cows were sold by A/c Allandale Pastoral for 354¢/kg weighing 541kg to return $1,918 per head.
- Bulls sold on A/c D,L,S Campbell topped at 382¢/kg and weighed 820kg to return $3,134 per head.
Store Quotes: Store cattle were presented in smaller consignments of Brahman feeder and weaner Steers, with both holding firm on previous weeks’ rates. Minimal Crossbred Steers were yarded. A good quality Heifer offering saw a premium for Crossbred types and feeder weights, with light weight types still only just holding ground.

- A pen of 8 Steers A/c A & D Anderson made 456¢/kg and weighed 242kg returning an average of $1,106 per head.
- A good pen of Steers on A/c D,L,S Campbell, made 422¢/kg, to average 328kg to return an average of $1,387 per head.
- A good pen of Heifers on A/c Danni Holzwart made 386¢/kg, weighed 319kg and returned an average of $1,233 per head.
- Cows & Calves sold by various vendors returned between $625-$1,850 per unit.
