CHARTERS TOWERS PRIME & STORE CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 30TH APRIL 2025
Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 2,918 cattle, consisting of 1,310 Prime Cattle and 1,608 Store cattle. The Prime cattle consisted of 158 Bullocks, 284 Heifers, 827 Cows and 41 Bulls. The Store section consisted of 822 Steers, 780 Heifers, and 6 Cows & Calves.
Prime cattle comprised of a quality line up of well finished Bullocks, Heifers & Cows, all meeting solid competition. The market was slightly easier prices but remains very solid. The yarding was drawn from Mt Isa, Cloncurry, Hughenden, Forsayth, Mt Garnet, as well as local and coastal areas.
Prime Quotes: Bullocks were quoted 5c easer, Heifers were unchanged, Cows were 8c easier, and Bulls unchanged on last weeks rates.

- Bullocks topped at 322c/kg for a pen of Brahman Ox sold on A/C Christmas Creek, that weighed 593kg to return $1,909 per head.
- Best priced Heavy trade heifers were presented on A/C Roncato Agri that sold for 304c/kg, weighing 478kg to return $1,452 per head.
- A pen of Light Trade Heifers sold on A/C JR Connolly topped at 318c/kg, to weigh 389kg and return $1,237 per head.
- The top pen of Cows were sold by A/C Mt Douglas Pastoral Co, “Mt Douglas”, Clermont for 276c/kg, weighing 603kg to return $1,666 per head.
- Bull sold on A/C Blackspur Pty Ltd, topped at 294c/kg and weighed 753kg, to return $2,216 per head.
Store Quotes: Store cattle were made up of isolated pens of quality steers, with the crossbreds continuing to be sought after, as well as the very best of the standout Brahman weaner steers. There were some bigger consignments of quality Heifers that sold to solid competition.

- A pen of 34 Steers A/C J & K Johnson made 362c/kg and weighed 243kg, returning and average of $879 per head.
- 13 Steers A/C RE & KJ Whalan sold for 338c/kg, and weighed 408kg to return $1,378 per head.
- A good run of 93 Heifers on A/C Christmas Creek made 298c/kg weighed 245kg returning an average of $730 per head.
- 6 x 6 Cows & Calves sold on A/C Stephen Brooks, “Glenore Station” returned $880 per unit.
