CHARTERS TOWERS PRIME & STORE CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 4TH JUNE 2025

Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 3,708 Cattle, consisting of 2,088 Prime Cattle and 1,620 Store Cattle. The Prime Cattle consisted of 417 Bullocks, 319 Heifers, 1,214 Cows and 138 Bulls. The Store section consisted of 1,007 Steers, 300 Mickeys, 306 Heifers and 7 Cows & Calves.

Cattle comprised of a large run of well finished Bullocks as well as good Prime Heifers and finished good condition Cows with plenty of competition from most processers. The yarding was drawn from Mount Isa, Cloncurry, Hughenden, Croydon, Normanton, Einasleigh, Mount Garnet as well as local and coastal areas.

Prime Quotes: Bullocks were quoted 10¢ dearer, Heifers were 10¢ dearer, Cows were 5¢ dearer and Bulls were 8¢ dearer, on last week’s rates.

  • Bullocks topped at 306¢/kg sold on a/c 2K Cattle that weighed 625kg to return a $1,913 per head.
  • Best priced trade Heifers were presented on a/c Mt Douglas Pastoral that sold for 298¢/kg and weighed 590kg to return $1,759 per head.
  • The top pen of Cows was sold by a/c Mt Douglas Pastoral, for 278¢/kg, weighing 684kg to return $1,901 per head.
  • Heavy Bulls sold on a/c LHRPHC ‘Lawn Hill’, topped at 268¢/kg and weighed 820kg, to return $2,199 per head.

Store Quotes: Store Cattle were made up of a quality yarding of mainly good Brahman and few Crossbred Steers with majority of the weight around 300kg selling to mainly Feedlot and Background competition.

  • A pen of 10 Steers a/c GD & ER Burstow made 358¢/kg and weighed 292kg, returning an average of $1,045 per head.
  • A good pen of 14 Heifers on a/c A & B Pty Ltd made 270¢/kg, weighed 338kg returning $912 per head.
  • 6 Cows & Calves sold on a/c M. Meehan and returned $800 per unit.
