CHARTERS TOWERS PRIME & STORE CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 6TH AUGUST 2025

Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 3,413 cattle, consisting of 1,839 Prime cattle and 1,574 Store cattle. The Prime cattle consisted of 379 Bullocks, 339 Heifers, 889 Cows and 232 Bulls. The store section consisted of 468 Steers, 197 Mickeys and 909 Heifers.

Cattle comprised of a generally mixed quality yarding, isolated pens of Heavy export slaughter Ox, Heifers and Cows were penned. All buyers were operating in a firm to slightly dearer market. The yarding was drawn from Mt Isa, Richmond, Winton, Hughenden, Normanton, Burketown, Chillagoe, Croydon as well as local and coastal areas.

Prime Quotes: Bullocks were quoted 5-8c dearer, Heifers were 10-15c easier, Cows were 8-10c easier, Bulls were 10-15c dearer on last weeks rates.

  • Bullocks topped at 370c/kg for 17 Ox sold on A/C D & D Jones, “Glenlyon”, Richmond that weighed 545kg to return $2,016 per head.
  • Best priced trade heifers were presented on A/C Lochinvar Grazing, “Lochinvar”, Brandon that sold for 332c/kg and weighed 451kg to return $1,497 per head.
  • The top pen of cows were sold on A/C G & C Connolly, “Blancourt”, Georgetown for 350c/kg, weighing 538kg to return $1,883 per head.
  • Bulls sold on A/C Lund Grain P/L, “Hillsborough”, Ravenswood made 364c/kg and weighed 680kg, to return $2,476 per head.

Store Quotes: Store cattle comprised of mainly northern and western bred weaners. Buyers again were very selective on quality and weight, with all normal buyers attending.

  • A pen of 35 steers on A/C Stringer Family Trust, “Charelle”, Charters Towers made 376c/kg and weighed 256kg, returning an average of $962 per head.
  • A good pen of heifers on A/C Cunningham Cattle Co, Croydon made 318c/kg weighed 436kg returning $1,388 per head.
