CHARTERS TOWERS PRIME & STORE CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 9TH JULY 2025

Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 3,084 Cattle. This consisted of 2,072 Prime Cattle and 1,012 Store Cattle. The Prime Cattle consisted of 422 Bullocks, 367 Heifers, 1,202 Cows and 81 Bulls. The Store sections consisted of 382 Steers, 272 Mickeys, 358 Heifers and 2 x 2 Cows & Calves.

Cattle comprised of good runs of heavy slaughter Ox, isolated pens of heavy Cows and a larger offering of mixed quality Bulls, with all processors, feedlots and exporters operating in a dearer trend. The yarding was drawn from Mt Isa, Julia Creek, Richmond, Hughenden, Croydon, Forsayth, Mt Surprise, as well as local and coastal areas.

Prime Quotes: Bullocks were quoted 10-15c dearer, Heifers were 10c dearer, Cows were 15-20c dearer and Bulls were 12-15c easier on last week’s rates.

  • Bullocks sold on A/C P & L Fryer, Charters Towers, that sold for 306c/kg, weighing 666kg, returning $2,037 per head.
  • Best priced trade Heifers were presented on A/C Griggs Farming, Woodstock, that sold for 300c/kg, weighing 370kg, returning $1,110 per head.
  • The top pen of Cows was sold on A/C BW & GJ Kirkwood, “Somerview”, Charters Towers, for 302c/kg, weighing 615kg to return $1,857 per head.
  • Heavy Bulls sold on A/C Camden Park Grazing, Hughenden made 298c/kg and weighed 640kg, to return $1,097 per head.

Store Quotes: Store cattle were made up of a mixed quality yarding, with isolated pens of good, crossbred weaners on offer.
