Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 3,189 Store cattle consisting of 1,119 Steers, 576 Mickeys, 1,446 Heifers and 24 Cows & Calves.

Cattle comprised of a few good lines of Steers and Mickeys as well as Heifers which were met with good competition, whilst other cattle showing signs of the drying weather received mixed values. The yarding was drawn from Croydon, Burketown, Mt Isa, Richmond, Julia Creek, Georgetown, Mt Surprise as well as local and coastal areas.

  • A run of 86 Crossbred Steers A/c KJ & MM Taylor, “Oaralat Station”, Mt Surprise sold to a top of 446.2¢/kg, to average 421¢/kg and weigh 300kg to return $1,266 per head.
  • A run of 192 Brahman Steers A/c Blue Gate Pastoral Co, “Ellenvale Station”, Reid River sold to a top of 414¢/kg, to average 399¢/kg and weigh 223kg to return $892 per head.
  • A good pen of Brahman Mickeys A/c Cudgee Creek Pastoral Co, “Beach Station”, Croydon made 360¢/kg to weigh 258kg and return $930 per head. The line of 179 averaged 346¢/kg to weigh 221kg and returned $767 per head.
  • A good pen of Crossbred Heifers A/c IM Grazing, Greenvale sold to 336¢/kg to weigh 294kg and return $990 per head.
  • A pen of Brahman Heifers A/c RJ & AG Christensen, “K-Belle Park”, Ravenswood made 316¢/kg, to weigh 228kg to return $719 per head.
  • A limited number of Cows & Calves sold from $800 to $1300 per unit.
