Charters towers combined agents yarded a total of 3,669 Store Cattle. Cattle consisted of 1,708 Steers, 518 Mickeys, 1426 Heifers and 17 Cows & Calves.

Cattle comprised of a good quality yarding of generally Western and Northern bred weaners.  There were large lines of Brahman steers, mickeys and heifers penned, which sold to a full buying panel in a much dearer trend. Buyers again were very active on any suitable crossbred types.

The yarding was drawn from Mt Isa, Cloncurry, Winton, Richmond, Hughenden, Burketown, Normanton, Einasleigh as well as local and coastal areas.

  • 17 Crossbred steers on A/C R & S Kirkwood, Charters Towers topped at 438c/kg, weighing 195kg, returning $854 per head.
  • 34 VGQ Brahman steers on A/C Brookdale Estates, “Brookdale Station”, Burketown made 362c/kg and weighed 299kg to return $1,082 per head.
  • A pen of mickeys on A/C Brookhill Pastoral, Brookhill made 352c/kg and weighed 188kg to return $663 per head.
  • A pen of heifers on A/C CC & T Archer, “Elston Hills”, Charters Towers topped at 348c/kg, weighing 285kg, returning $992 per head.
  • A pen of heifers on A/C Richard Lavery, Charters Towers made 344c/kg and weighed 243kg to return $836 per head.
  • 17 Cows & Calves ranged from $700-1,250 per unit.
