Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded a total of 4,269 cattle. Store cattle consisted of 1,527 Steers, 713 Mickeys, 2,007 Heifers and 22 Cows & Calves.

Store cattle were presented in some quality lines of Feeder weight Steers and Heifers, receiving firm competition from multiple feedlotters and backgrounders. Isolated runs of both well-bred Brahman and Crossbred weaner Steers were met with strong competition. Heifers of all descriptions also sold to a dearer trend.

The yarding was drawn from Mt Isa, Richmond, Hughenden, Croydon, Einasleigh, Mt Garnet, Lakeland as well as local and coastal areas.

  • A pen of 14 Light Crossbred Steers A/C Koolyn Pty Ltd made 455c/kg and weighed 153kg to return $696 per head.
  • A pen of Feeder Steers A/C GE & MC Whalan made 388c/kg and weighed 356kg to return $1,383 per head.
  • A pen of Mickeys on A/C Khartoum Pastoral Co made 345c/kg, weighing 307kg, returning $1,060 per head.
  • A pen of Crossbred Heifers A/C Brown & Sons, “Mayfield”, Duchess made 342c/kg, weighing 309kg and returning $1,057 per head.
  • 8 Cows & Calves sold on A/C Amboss Beef, Bllyana returned $1,400 per unit.
