DALBY CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 10TH JUNE 2026
The significant rise in prices at the previous sale contributed to a larger yarding at Dalby, with numbers increasing by 3,355 head to reach 8,029. Cows accounted for the largest portion of the offering, with 2,106 head penned.
The quality of the lightweight cattle was highly variable, reflecting producers’ decisions to wean calves directly into the saleyards. Prices for lightweight yearling steers and heifers purchased by restockers varied according to quality. Despite the substantial supply of yearling steers and heifers suitable for feedlots, prices generally remained around the levels of the previous week. Strong demand was evident for bullocks and grown heifers destined for export processors.
Medium-weight cows in plain condition held fi rm, while heavy cows improved by 2-6c/kg. Lightweight yearling steers purchased by restockers sold to a top of 592c/kg, with a large proportion averaging between 509c and 530c/kg. Yearling steers suitable for domestic feeders averaged from 511c to 527c/kg and reached a high of 593c/kg. Heavyweight yearling steers to feed topped at 584c/kg, with the bulk of sales around 527c/kg. Lightweight yearling heifers returning to the paddock sold to 510c/kg and averaged between 467c and 469c/kg.
Medium-weight yearling heifers to feed reached 538c/kg and averaged 478c/kg, while heavyweight yearling heifers to feed sold to 542c/kg and averaged 477c/kg. Heavy grown steers destined for export processors sold to 494c/kg and averaged 471c/kg, while a small number of bullocks reached 480c/kg. Heavy grown heifers to export processors made to 472c/kg. Medium-weight two-score cows sold to 365c/kg and averaged 343c/kg.
Heavyweight three-score cows averaged 389c/kg, while the better-quality cows reached 438c/kg and averaged 416c/kg. Heavyweight bulls were noticeably dearer, selling to a top of 460c/kg.
