DALBY CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 15TH JULY 2026

Dalby numbers continued the upward trend seen across other selling centers this week, with agents yarding 7,731 head, up 1,679 on the previous sale. The larger yarding included two substantial consignments of 885 and 501 head, while females dominated the offering, comprising 1,797 cows and 1,658 heifers. Export buyer attendance was strong, with all processors active, although not all regular feeder buyers were operating. Restockers from central New South Wales provided very strong support for young cattle, helping underpin the market.

Lightweight yearling steers returning to the paddock sold to dearer rates, while domestic feeder steers varied according to quality. Heavy feeder steers remained very fi rm, and light yearling heifers to restockers improved in price. Medium-weight yearling heifers met solid demand for the quality on offer, while heavy feeder heifers also attracted strong competition. A limited supply of heavy grown steers and bullocks lifted an average of 15c/kg, while restocker demand in the cow section improved returns by 6-8c/kg for suitable lines. Heavy export cows, however, experienced little change in price.

Lightweight yearling steers to restockers averaged 590c/kg and reached a top of 636c/kg from a run of 268 head. Medium-weight feeder steers averaged 547-550c/kg and sold to 628c/kg, while heavy feeder steers also topped at 628c/kg to average 558c/kg. Lightweight yearling heifers to restockers reached 542c/kg, with most averaging around 498c/kg, while poorer quality lines sold from 345c/kg. Medium-weight feeder heifers sold to 556c/kg and averaged 499-504c/kg, while heavy feeder heifers topped at 572c/kg to average 515c/kg. Heavy grown steers and bullocks averaged 460-476c/kg, with isolated sales reaching 515c/kg.

Very plain cows returning to the paddock sold to 348c/kg and averaged 334c/kg, while two-score restocker cows reached 372c/kg to average 364c/kg. Heavy three-score export cows averaged 372c/kg, with the best lines topping at 402c/kg and averaging 388c/kg. Heavy bulls sold to a top of 441c/kg.
