DALBY CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 16TH OCTOBER 2024

Cattle numbers at Dalby continue to decline with supply down by 542 head to 4,334. Buyer attendance was good with representatives covering all classes. Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 10c/kg less however most of the loss was quality related. Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed generally sold close to the previous weeks level. Yearling heifers experienced only quality related price changes. Cows received mixed results and were firm to 3c to 4c/kg cheaper. Light weight yearling steers to restockers made to the very occasional 448c with most sales from 385c to 388c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged 366c and made to 386c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to a top of 380c average 358c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock made to 304c to average 276c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged from 288c to 302c and sold to 332c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 338c to average 301c/kg. The best of the heavy grown steers and bullocks averaged from 338c to 342c with sales to 354c/kg. Grown heifers to export processors made to 332c to average 317c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 243c and made to 256c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 270c and the best of the heavy weight cows made to 294c to average 283c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 308c/kg.
