DALBY CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 19TH FEBRUARY 2025

The Dalby market saw a notable increase in numbers, with agents penning 4,988 head, an increase of 751 from the previous sale. This included a consignment of 109 head from Victoria. Export and feeder buyers, along with restockers, remained active and contributed to a firm to dearer market. Lightweight yearling steers returning to the paddock were firm to 10c/kg better, while medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed saw increases of up to 4c/kg. Lightweight yearling heifers to restockers lifted by 6c/kg, and medium weight yearling heifers to feed improved by 11c to 13c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed sold to a solid market. Heavy grown steers and bullocks were firm to marginally dearer, while all classes of cows saw improvements of 4c to 8c/kg. Lightweight yearling steers returning to the paddock reached a top of 448c/kg, with a strong sample averaging between 402c and 406c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged 389c/kg, with a top of 408c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 403c/kg, averaging 380c/kg. Lightweight yearling heifers to restockers averaged 315c/kg, with some sales reaching 350c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 318c to 337c/kg and sold to a top of 358c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed also reached 358c/kg, averaging 325c/kg. Bullocks made up to 359c/kg, with an average of 350c/kg, while the grown heifer portion reached 340c/kg. Medium weight 2-score cows made to 276c/kg, averaging 267c/kg. Heavy weight 3-score cows averaged 280c/kg, with the best heavy weight cows averaging 299c/kg and reaching a top of 310c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 318c/kg.
