DALBY CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 22ND JULY 2026

The large numbers of cattle coming to market in recent weeks continued at Dalby, with agents yarding 8,186 head, 455 more than the previous sale and well above average numbers. Cows were again well represented, with 1,880 head penned. Overall supply was further boosted by two large consignments totaling 483 head and 447 head respectively, providing buyers with a broad selection of cattle across all categories.

Export buyer attendance was good, with a full panel of feeder operators returning to the market, while interstate restockers provided solid support on lightweight cattle. Despite the large selection of young cattle, both restocker and feeder classes experienced strong demand, with any price variations largely reflecting the quality of the cattle offered.

Heavy grown steers and bullocks destined for export processors were well supplied and sold into a very strong market, while medium and heavyweight cows to export processors averaged 4c to 7c/kg dearer. Lightweight yearling steers returning to the paddock sold to 608c/kg and averaged from 526c to 541c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market reached 598c/kg, with most sales ranging from 551c to 566c/kg. Heavyweight yearling steers to feed averaged 551c/kg and made to 612c/kg.

Lightweight yearling heifers to restockers sold to 544c/kg, with a large proportion making from 448c to 465c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged from 480c to 532c/kg, with sales reaching 566c/kg, while heavyweight yearling heifers to feed averaged 494c/kg and made to 556c/kg. A large sample of heavy grown steers and bullocks sold to 490c/kg, with most sales from 472c to 475c/kg.

Medium weight plain condition cows received strong support from restockers, making to 383c/kg and averaging 362c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows to export processors averaged 362c/kg and made to 368c/kg.

Heavyweight 3 score cows averaged 379c/kg, while the best heavyweight cows sold to 405c/kg to average 392c/kg. Heavyweight bulls made to 471c/kg, with most sales around 430c/kg.
