DALBY CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 24TH APRIL 2024
The recent rain event reduced the number of stock at Dalby down by 1,888 head to a total of 3,123. Export buyer attendance was not as good as the previous week however the regular feed and trade plus restockers were present and active in a generally dearer market.
Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 8c dearer and a lift in the quality of the under 330kg lines improved average prices by 27c/kg. Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 5c to 16c/kg better. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers gained 16c and the medium and heavy weight feeders improved by 5c to 6c/kg. Restockers provided stronger support on the medium weight plain condition cows and lifted average prices. Medium and heavy weight cows to processors were firm to 4c to 5c/kg dearer.
Light weight yearling steers to restockers made to 424c and averaged 393c and the under 330kg classes made to 400c to average 381c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market sold to 370c to average 356c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 340c and averaged 320c/kg.
Light weight yearling heifers to restockers averaged 269c and made to 306c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made to 320c to average 281c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 275c and made to 308c/kg.
Medium weight plain condition cows returning to the paddock made to 204c to average 191c/kg. A good selection of heavy weight PTIC cows to restockers made to 240c/kg some returning $1,390/head. Heavy weight 3 scores to processors made to 210c to average 205c and the best of the heavy weight cows made to 220c to average 216c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 277c/kg.
