DALBY CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 25TH MARCH 2026

There was a minor reduction of 274 head in the total yarding; However, overall numbers remained well above average at 7,772. The trend of large cow turnoffs continued, with 1,328 cows penned alongside 2,637 heifers. Prices generally eased across all classes. Lightweight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 20c/kg less, while medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 20c to 28c/kg cheaper; however, top-end quality lines experienced very little change in price. All classes of yearling heifers sold to a cheaper market by 5c to 24c/kg, although, similar to the steers, top-quality lines received strong support. The national trend of easing cow prices persisted, with a further decline of 7c to 17c/kg, adding to reductions experienced during the previous week. Lightweight yearling steers to restockers made to 552c/kg and averaged from 489c to 504c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market made to 546c/kg, with most sales ranging from 471c to 489c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed reached an isolated 526c/kg and averaged 466c/kg. Lightweight yearling heifers returning to the paddock made to 446c/kg and averaged from 380c to 386c/kg, with poorer quality lines averaging 265c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged from 377c to 378c/kg and sold to 442c/kg, while heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 436c/kg and averaged 394c/kg. Heavy grown steers made to 452c/kg and bullocks reached 447c/kg to average 442c/kg. Heavy grown heifers made to 430c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 325c/kg and made to 336c/kg, while heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 353c/kg, with the best making to 390c/kg to average 372c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 398c/kg.
