DALBY CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 26TH MARCH 2025
The falls of rain across parts of the supply area and more forecast reduced the number of cattle at Dalby by 2,042 head to 3,657. The export buying panel was good and included some southern processors. The regular feed and trade, plus restockers were also present and active in a generally dearer market. Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 20c/kg better. Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed experienced similar improvements. Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock received strong support and yearling heifers to feed averaged 10c/kg dearer and more in places. Heavy grown steers and bullocks were noticeably dearer, and cows improved by up to 15c/kg. Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock made to 454c, a good sample averaging 410c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market made to the occasional 432c with most sales from 371c to 405c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 370c with some well-bred lines reaching 390c/kg to return $1,950/head. Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock made to 342c to average 311c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made to 347c with most sales from 304c to 329c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 350c to average 332c/kg. Bullocks averaged 359c and made to an isolated 384c/kg to return $2,551/head. Export heifers made to 348c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 257c and made to 269c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows made to 286c to average 282c/kg. The best of the good heavy weight cows made to 307c in pen lots to average 296c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 304c/kg.
