DALBY CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 27TH AUGUST 2025

The supply of cattle at Dalby increased by 253 head to 6,302 and included 1,300 cows and 303 bulls. A fair panel of export buyers were in attendance, including southern operators, however not all regular exporters were present. Feeder and restocker demand was very strong across all classes, lifting prices accordingly. The large numbers of light weight yearling steers to restockers caused averages to vary, while medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed sold 34c to 40c/kg dearer. Yearling heifers returning to the paddock improved by 20c/kg, and medium and heavy weight yearling heifers to feed were in demand, lifting by 20c to 55c/kg. Export classes also recorded gains, with bullocks averaging 14c/kg dearer and cows improving 7c to 14c/kg, and up to 25c/kg dearer in places. Light weight yearling steers to restockers sold to 580c, with a good sample averaging 508c to 509c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed sold to 531c, averaging 473c to 507c/kg, while a single medium weight steer with show ring potential reached an isolated 788c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 518c, with a large sample averaging 472c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers made to 462c, averaging 416c/kg, while medium weight heifers to feed averaged 432c to 440c with sales to 474c/kg. Heavy weight heifers to feed sold to 478c, with a large number averaging 445c/kg. Among the cows, medium weight plain-condition lines averaged 327c/kg, medium weight 2 scores 357c/kg, and heavy weight 3 scores 370c/kg. The best of the cows reached 416c to average 394c/kg, some returning $2,852/head. Heavy weight bulls made to 408c/kg, with the best returning $4,183/head.
