DALBY CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 27TH MAY 2026
Despite forecasts of useful rainfall returning across the supply area, numbers at Dalby lifted by 1,737 head to 5,501. The yarding included a good sample of 1,353 cows, along with 1,708 heifers and 1,649 steers. A large panel of buyers attended and was able to absorb the increased numbers while pushing prices a further 30c to 40c/kg higher on top of the gains recorded the previous week.
Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 30c/kg better, while yearling steers to feed improved by 17c to 30c/kg, with some sales more than 50c/kg higher. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers were in strong demand and lifted by as much as 70c/kg, while yearling heifers to feed sold to a market 17c to 30c/kg dearer. Bullocks averaged more than 30c/kg better and heavy weight cows reached new high levels, improving by 30c to 40c/kg.
Light weight yearling steers to restockers averaged from 509c to 519c and sold to 563c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market reached 588c, with most sales ranging from 533c to 541c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed sold to 552c/kg and averaged 495c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock made to 488c, with a large selection averaging from 443c to 451c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged from 435c to 451c, with occasional sales reaching 488c/kg.
Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed topped at 496c and averaged 454c/kg. Bullocks sold to 488c and grown heifers reached 474c/kg. Light weight plain condition four and six-tooth heifers to restockers made 424c/kg. Medium weight plain condition cows to restockers sold to 372c and averaged 350c/kg. Medium weight two-score PTIC cows sold to processors at 370c to average 361c/kg. Heavy weight three-score cows averaged 378c, while good heavy weight cows averaged 417c and sold to a new high of 442c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 410c/kg.
