DALBY CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 28TH MAY 2025

The supply of cattle continues to climb, with Dalby agents yarding 4,905 head, an increase of 935 head. All the regular export processors were in attendance and active, along with a few additional southern operators. Feed and restocker buyers were well represented and fully engaged. Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock were well supplied and averaged 6c to 16c/kg dearer. Yearling steers to feed were in strong demand, averaging over 20c/kg higher on selected lines. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers and feeders experienced only quality-related price changes, following the significant lift in values seen the previous week. All classes of cows sold to a much dearer market, averaging 20c to 26c/kg higher. Light weight yearling steers to restockers sold to 493c/kg, averaging from 418c to 436c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged from 408c to 420c/kg, with occasional sales reaching 466c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged from 370c to 383c/kg, with top sales to 428c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock made to 348c/kg, averaging from 322c to 323c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed sold to 374c/kg to average 330c/kg, while heavy weights made to 372c/kg and averaged 344c/kg. A small selection of bullocks sold to 368c/kg, averaging 361c/kg. Medium weight cows in plain condition to restockers sold to 275c/kg and averaged 271c/kg. Medium weight 2-score cows to processors averaged 262c/kg and made to 272c/kg. Heavy weight 3-score cows averaged 276c/kg, while the best of the heavy cows reached 310c/kg to average 300c/kg. Heavy weight bulls topped at 320c/kg.
