DALBY CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 29TH APRIL 2026
Despite ongoing dry weather, numbers at Dalby reduced by 1,308 head to a yarding of 6,905. There was a wide variation in quality across the large lineup, which included 1,630 cows and 356 bulls. Export buyer attendance remained strong, with an additional operator active in the cow section, while a solid panel of feed, trade and restocker buyers also competed across the market.
Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock held firm to slightly improve, and heavy weight yearling steers destined for feed recorded price gains. In contrast, yearling heifers generally failed to maintain the levels of the previous sale. Bullocks sold to export processors followed a dearer trend, while cow prices stabilized in places, with plain condition lines receiving stronger support. Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged from 446c to 453c, and sold to a top of 514c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market reached 476c and averaged from 453c to 454c/kg, while heavy weight yearling steers to feed peaked at 500c and averaged around 450c/kg.
Lightweight yearling heifers to restockers made to 355c, with a large selection averaging from 292c to 323c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged from 328c to 331c and sold to 368c/kg, while heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 406c, with most sales around 350c/kg. Heavy grown steers to export processors made to 449c, while bullocks reached 436c and averaged 431c/kg. Medium weight two score cows averaged 261c and sold to 286c/kg. Heavy weight three score cows averaged 306c, with the better lines making to 350c and averaging 330c/kg. Heavy weight bulls reached 410c/kg, and one bull sold for $4,155 per head.
