DALBY CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 3RD DECEMBER 2025

The supply of cattle for the second-last sale before the annual break eased by 1,448 head to yard 7,767, following the very large offering the previous week. Cow numbers reduced to 870 head, while heifers increased to 1,600. Buyer attendance was strong, with additional support from southern operators.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock generally sold close to the previous week’s levels. The large supply of yearling steers to feed caused average prices to vary; however, good-quality lines received strong support. Despite the increased numbers of light weight yearling heifers, buyers were able to absorb the supply and hold prices close to firm. The considerable number of yearling heifers to feed resulted in average prices easing, though similar to the steers, better-quality lines remained in demand. Around 600 bullocks were penned, with average prices experiencing a small reduction. Cows sold from firm to 4c/kg dearer.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock sold to 602c, with most sales from 530c to 535c/kg; poorer-quality lines averaged 415c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market made to 548c, averaging 475c to 516c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed reached 526c, averaging close to 500c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock topped at 465c, averaging 425c to 443c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed sold to 476c, averaging 418c to 429c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 424c and made to 468c/kg. Full-mouth bullocks topped at 430c to average 396c/kg, while 4 and 6 tooth bullocks made to 470c, averaging 459c/kg. Heavy weight 3-score cows averaged 385c, with the best of the cows selling to 420c to average 407c/kg. Heavy bulls reached 424c/kg.
