DALBY CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 7TH OCTOBER 2026

  • Yarding Numbers: 4,540
  • Location: Dalby
  • Date: October 7, 2026

Isolated falls of light rain across parts of the supply area contributed to a reduction in cattle numbers at Dalby, with supply declining by 1,300 head to 4,540. Cow numbers also eased to 788 head, while bull numbers remained relatively high at 413 head. A fair panel of buyers was present; however, the southern export processors from previous weeks were absent.

The market experienced mixed results overall, with light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock selling close to previous levels, while medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 10c/kg better. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers sold to a fair market, while heavy weight yearling heifers to feed were noticeably dearer, averaging 10c/kg higher and considerably more in places. Most export processor classes of heavy grown steers, bullocks and cows followed a cheaper trend, with good heavy cows selling 10c/kg less.

Light weight yearling steers to restockers made to 571c/kg, with the largest numbers selling from 523c to 531c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market reached 548c/kg and averaged around 516c/kg, while heavy weight yearling steers to feed topped at 568c/kg, with a good sample averaging 536c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock made to 468c/kg, with a good sample averaging from 413c to 414c/kg.

Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged between 430c and 444c/kg and sold to 480c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed reached 504c/kg on several occasions to average 461c/kg, while 480kg lines reached 502c/kg to average 490c/kg.
