DALBY CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 9TH JULY 2025

The supply of stock into the Dalby saleyards increased by over 2,000 head to total 6,679. A notable portion of the yarding comprised 1,730 cows and 340 bulls. Export buyer attendance was strong, with the most support coming from southern operators. Regular feed and trade buyers, along with restockers, were present and active throughout the sale. Lightweight yearling steers returning to the paddock continued to attract strong competition and, in some cases, sold to a dearer market. Medium and heavyweight yearling steers to feed lifted in price by 10 to 20c/kg. Lightweight yearling heifers to restockers sold to a firm market, while yearling heifers to feed improved in price, particularly for top-quality lines. Bullocks lifted by 20c/kg, and all classes of cows sold to a dearer trend, with the better heavy-weight cows 16 to 18c/kg dearer. Lightweight yearling steers to restockers sold to a top of 478c/kg, averaging from 420c to 433c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market sold to a top of 458c/kg, with most averaging from 415c to 423c/kg. Heavyweight yearling steers to feed reached an isolated top of 472c/kg, with most sales ranging from 391c to 400c/kg. Lightweight yearling heifers returning to the paddock made to 366c/kg, with the majority selling from 317c to 318c/kg. Medium-weight yearling heifers to feed made to an isolated 420c/kg, averaging between 342c and 349c/kg. Heavyweight yearling heifers also sold to an isolated 414c/kg, averaging 339c/kg. In the grown cattle section, heavy steers to export processors made to 412c/kg, while bullocks sold to 402c/kg to average 391c/kg. Heavyweight export heifers reached 412c/kg, averaging 374c/kg, with the best returning $2,505 per head. Medium-weight 2-score cows averaged 278c/kg and made to 290c/kg. Heavyweight 3-score cows averaged 314c/kg, with the best making to 348c/kg and averaging 335c/kg. Heavyweight bulls made to 340c/kg.
