EMERALD CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – THURSDAY 12TH JUNE 2025

  • Yarding Numbers: 1,100
  • Location: Emerald
  • Date: June 12, 2025

Just shy of 1,100 head were presented at Emeralds combined sale. Quality and presentation did vary, however, for the most part it was a fair yarding in most categories. The processing sector whilst not bullish kept the market close enough to firm for most sales/classes albeit there was not enough Bullocks to quote. A fair sample of feeder/yearling steers sold well with competition from grain and grass fatteners, the feeder/yearling heifer run was a little mixed, and buyer interaction from processors or feedlots was limited. However, grass and opportunity buyers kept most at reasonable     levels. A small but pretty run of weaner steers sold well for any of the better bred and presented pens, a small offering of weaner heifers sold to the two extremities with the better-bred calves selling well, and some of the plainer types copping some real stick and most sold to opportunists.

Bullocks were too few to quote selling to 299c, cows over 520kg made to 274c averaging 263c the average close enough to firm, cows 450-520kg produced the biggest class for the day to reach 280c for younger types to average 253c, cows under 450kg in small numbers made to 250c, store cows with shape sold around 236c, heifers over 400kg perhaps not to the standard of the previous sale peaked at 304c to average 277c back 9c, a much better run of bulls over 600kg reached 270c to average 250 up 17c.

Steers 400-500kg in better supply made to 376c to average 328c, steers 350-400kg in small numbers topped 388c to average 346c, steers 280-350kg in a very mixed weight class shown in the average of 359c however the better-bred weaners sold well to top at 450c, steers 200-280kg most of good quality peaked at 454c to average 436c, steers under 200kg NQ.

Heifers 350-400kg sold consistently making to 314c to average 289c, heifers 280-350kg were very mixed with a high of 316c the average was 276c, heifers 200-280kg in smaller numbers reached a very healthy 348c to average 295c, heifers under 200kg too few to quote topped at 300c.

There were no cows & calves offered.
