EMERALD CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – THURSDAY 5TH FEBRUARY 2026

Emerald combined agents yarded 1,823 head at the prime and store cattle sale. Most categories remained firm across the board, with the exception of weaner steers, which strengthened due to the quality of cattle offered and increased numbers yarded. Heavy kill bulls sold to a top of 396.2c/kg, averaging 354c/kg. Good quality heavy kill cows achieved a top of 382c/kg to average 378c/kg, showing a lift of 3c/kg on last weeks sale. Secondary cows met the market well, reaching a top of 364c/kg and averaging 340c/kg, firm on last week. Kill heifers sold to a top of 420c/kg, averaging 406c/kg. Bullocks reached 454c/kg, averaging 417c/kg. With very few yarded and of mixed quality, this category read slightly softer on last weeks results. Feeder steers sold to a top 506c/kg and averaged 457c/kg, similar to last week. Feeder heifers reached 456c/kg, averaging 400c/kg, showing firm results overall. Weaner steers were stronger this week due to improved quality and numbers, selling to a high of 602c/kg and averaging close to 500c/kg. Weaner heifers reached 410c/kg for genuine weaners, while heavier heifers weighing 280-350kg sold to a top of 434c/kg. Overall, weaner heifers averaged 375c/kg, up 6c/kg on last week. There were limited numbers of cows and calves yarded; however, they were of very good quality, with a single pen of 10 cows and calves returning $2,240.
