INVERELL CATTLE & SHEEP SALE MARKET REPORT – TUESDAY 11TH FEBRUARY 2025
Cattle – 557
Inverell numbers reduced by half to 557, mostly good quality cattle. Some operators were absent and another cow buyer returning saw trends improving for the most part. Very light yearling steers to restockers up 21c/kg, with a large contingent going North of the border. Light steers to background gained 19c/kg selling 312c to 384c/kg. Medium feeders rose 18c/kg and ranged 316c to 376c/kg. Steers in excess of 480 kgs to process considerably dearer 324c to 328c/kg. Light heifers to background were significantly dearer, while the medium feeders gained slightly to background operations. Heifers in excess of 400 kgs to feed were up to 25c/kg better. Grown heifers to process significantly dearer, while heavy cows gained 10c to 16c/kg to top at 290c/kg. Heavy bulls also dearer selling 270c to 292c/kg.

Yarding – 1820 Lambs – 1196 Sheep – 624
Inverell penned 1820 head comprising of 1196 lambs and 624 grown sheep, 290 less from last sale. The regular buyers attended to cheaper trends. Restockers competed for paddock lambs $25 to $40/head for very light Merino lambs and $110/head for crossbred lambs. Light trade lambs sold to dearer trends of $12/head $120 to $128/head. Trade lambs slipped $23/head with only a couple of smaller lots on offer. Heavy crossbred lambs lost $35/head selling to $205/head while crossbred lambs over 30 kgs cwt made to $255/head. Similar weight Dorper lambs cheaper selling $210 to $213/head. Heavy hoggets were dearer making to $145/head. Light ewes were dearer selling to $63/head. Heavy ewes slipped $19/head selling $88 to $110/head. A line of heavy Merino wethers made $110/head, and meat ram rams $20 to $44/head.
