INVERELL CATTLE & SHEEP SALE MARKET REPORT – TUESDAY 22ND APRIL 2025

Cattle – 330

There was a small yarding this week, consisting mainly of weaners, yearlings and a fair penning of cows. Quality was very mixed, although there were several pens of well bred weaner steers and heifers through the sale. The market varied considerably, however weaner steers and heifers met keen interest from local restockers.

Restocker weaner steers sold to a top of 420c, while restocker weaner heifers ranged from 332c to 368c/kg. Restocker and feeder yearling steers sold according to quality, ranging from 334c to 400c, while yearling heifers sold from 270c to 346c/kg. There was a limited numbers of grown steers, the steers to process sold from 325c to 350c and feeder steers sold to a top of 386c/kg. Cows ranged from firm to a cheaper trend with the 3 and 4 scores selling from 265c to 290c/kg.

Sheep

Yarding – 1,959            Lambs – 959  Sheep – 1,000

There was a yarding of 1,959 sheep, consisting of 950 lambs and 1,000 mutton. Quality of the lambs was good with several drafts of supplementary fed lambs through the sale. competition was strong with buyers keen to fill orders.

Heavy trade lambs sold from $178 to $251 while heavy and extra heavy lambs ranged from $240 to $258/head. Dorper lambs reached a top price of $240/head. hoggets sold to $255/head. The good penning of mutton continued to remain strong with ewes selling to $218 and wethers sold to $199/head.
