INVERELL CATTLE & SHEEP SALE MARKET REPORT – TUESDAY 25TH MARCH 2025
Cattle – 1,241
Inverell penned 1,241 good quality cattle a slight increase on last sale. There was an increase in quality and trends for cows with all regular buyers attending and operating to a dearer market throughout. Weaner steers under 200kgs were dearer 294c to 326c/kg, while light yearling weaner steers were much dearer 342c to 388c/kg to restockers. Light vealer heifers to process gained 12c/kg, 290c to 294c/kg. Yearling steers under 330kgs to feed sold to positive trends of 40c/kg, 299c to 390c/kg. Medium feeders up 20c/kg, 300c to 398c/kg. Yearling steers to process were much dearer selling up to 352c/kg. Heavy feeders considerably dearer selling to 386c/kg. Heifers under 330kgs to feed 318c to 328c/kg. Medium weights gained 18c/kg, selling up to 342c/kg. Grown steers were dearer 290c to 328c/kg with similar heifers to 8c/kg better. Cows were dearer with medium weights 200c to 247c/kg, and heavy cows 6c to 11c/kg better 250c to 293c/kg. Heavy bulls to a firm market at 304c/kg.

Yarding – 3,143 Lambs – 1,229 Sheep – 1,914
Inverell penned 1,103 grown sheep and 1,367 lambs. There was a limited offering of finished lambs with that category showing dearer trends. The main thrust was for grown sheep which sold to dearer trends for most categories. All regular buyers attended with restockers operating in a limited capacity. Light trade lambs gained $24/head, $110 to $130/head, while trades were up by a small margin $170 to $202/head. Heavy trades slipped $7/head, $200 to $230/head. Heavy Dorper lambs $236/head, and similar weight crossbreds to $260/head. Limited restocker capacity for better lambs ranged $133 to $162/head. Hoggets $90 to $160/head. Light crossbred ewes made to $70/head and Merinos $78 to $80/head. Medium weight ewes $70 to $100/head. Heavy crossbred ewes $3/head better, $118 to $155/head and Merino wethers to process $152/head.
