INVERELL CATTLE & SHEEP SALE MARKET REPORT – TUESDAY 6TH MAY 2025
Cattle – 1,870
Cow numbers doubled in a yarding of 1,870 head. Yearlings were also well supplied, and there were a few pens of weaners. Quality was good with several runs of well bred and well finished cattle through the sale. The market varied through out the sale depending on breed and weight.
Re-stocker weaner steers sold to a top of 452c, while restocker weaner heifers sold to 326c/kg. There was some good runs of yearling steers, however the market was firm to 10c cheaper with feeder steers selling from 370c to 420c, and restockers sold to 422c/kg. Feeder heifers could not maintain last weeks prices to be down by 10c to 15c, ranging from 330c to 374c/kg. There was a limited number of grown steers offered, steers to process sold to 350c, while feeder steers met a strong market to top at 372c/kg. The good offering of cows saw heavy cows sell 10c cheaper, while 3 score cows were less affected. Heavy 4 score cows sold from 260c to 286c,and 3 score cows averaged 263c/kg.

Yarding – 3,822 Lambs – 2,012 Sheep – 1,810
There was a larger yarding of 3,822 sheep consisting of 2,012 lambs and 1,810 mutton. The yarding of lambs consisted of a large percentage of heavy trade lambs, and there was also good numbers of heavy and extra heavy lambs, there was also increased numbers of hoggets penned. Quality was good with mainly well finished lambs, with several consignments supplementary fed.
Competition was stronger by $10 head with trade weights selling from $178 to $212 while heavy trade lambs sold from $211 to $230/head. Heavy and extra heavy lambs ranged from $235 to $294/head. Dorper lambs reached a top price of $270/head. Heavy hoggets sold to $260/head. Mutton sold up to $20 dearer with ewes selling to $230 and wethers to $236/head.
