WARWICK CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – TUESDAY 25TH AUGUST 2026

Cattle numbers at Warwick declined by 455 head to 877 this week as the forecasts of rain encouraged producers to retain stock rather than consign them to market. Overall quality was mixed across all classes. The regular line up of export buyers was present, while additional competition from a buyer based in Guyra, New South Wales, provided increased support for feeder and restocker cattle.
Light weight yearling steers to restockers experienced very strong demand. Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed sold to a market 10c and up to 30c/kg better.
Light weight yearling heifers attracted strong demand from both local and interstate buyers, resulting in average prices lifting by 50c/kg. Medium and heavy weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 12c to 17c/kg dearer. Plain condition cows experienced a lift in price pushed on by processors as well as restockers.
Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock made to 568c to average 529c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed made to 550c and averaged 487c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed sold to 514c and averaged 486c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers made to a top of 512c a good sample averaging 461c/kg.
Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged from 427c to 442c and sold to 478c/kg. Medium weight plain condition cows to restockers averaged 344c and made to 358c while the processor lines averaged 343c and made to 356c/kg.
Heavy weight 3 score cows to processors averaged 365c the best of the cows averaged 386 the very occasional sale to 400c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made 497c/kg.
