WARWICK CATTLE SALE MARKET REPORT – TUESDAY 6TH MAY 2025

The supply of stock rose by 615 head to 1,987. All the usual buyers attended and operated on a generally softer market for the export lines with quality and finish the major factor. Heavy feeder steers and heifers sold to a strong market similar to last week, with yearling steers and heifers to background selling to dearer trends for the better quality lines.

Light weight yearling steers back to the paddock sold to 438c/kg. Yearling steers over 200kg to restockers made 450c to average 393c/kg. Yearling steers in the 280-330kg range to background made 432c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market lost 7c and sold to 396c/kg. Heavy yearling steers to feed made 386c to average 377c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers sold to 372c and averaged 331c/kg. Yearling heifers over 200kg made 340c/kg. Domestic weight yearling heifers to feed made 368c to average 330c/kg. Heavy yearling heifers to feed made 346c to average 333c with those to the wholesale meat trade topping at 414c/kg.

Grown steers to processors made 331c to average 325c/kg. Grown heifers to processors sold to 330c and averaged 307c/kg. Light weight plain conditioned cows to processors lost 5c selling to 251c and averaging 227c/kg. Heavy score 2 and 3 cows sold from 266c to 280c to average from 249c to 269c/kg the best heavy cows to process eased by 20c selling to 290c and averaging 278c/kg. Heavy bulls to processors made 304c to average 281c/kg.
