WARWICK SHEEP SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 2ND OCTOBER 2024

Total Yarding: 2191 (-490) | Sheep Yarding: 700 (+400) | Lamb Yarding: 1491 (-890)

Agents at Warwick penned 2,191 sheep and lambs. The yarding contained very good runs of lambs suited to the trade and lesser numbers of heavy processor types plus increased numbers of young lambs suited to the local restockers and feeder operators. All the regular processors attended however one didn’t operate which had very little impact on the prices for the export lines. Lambs to the wholesale market sold firm to dearer as did the hoggets and the heavy mutton.

Light weight young lambs to restockers sold from $42 to $94 with those over 16kg at $91 to $133/head. New season trade weight lambs to wholesalers sold from $140 to $191/head. Light weight older lambs to restockers sold from $76 to $107/head. 18kg plain lambs to processors sold from $96 to $129 with those to feeder buyers at $117 to $130/head. Lambs in the 20-22kg range to the butcher trade sold from $129 to $181/head. Heavy trade weight lambs to processors sold from $170 to $206/head.

Dorper hoggets to processors sold from $76 to $139 with the crossbreds at $82 to $130/head. Light weight ewes to processors sold from $28 to $70 with the heavy lines at $69 to $139/head. Merino wethers to processors sold to $60 and crossbred wethers at $120 to $126/head. Ram lambs to the wholesale meat trade sold from $89 to $124/head. A run of merino rams to processors sold from $63 to $81 with the dorper rams at $72 to $132/head.
