WARWICK SHEEP SALE MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 8TH JANUARY 2025
Total Yarding: 2,438 (+938) | Sheep Yarding: 1002 (+502) | Lamb Yarding: 1436 (+436)
Warwick penned 938 head extra for the first sheep and lamb sale of 2025 with lambs in the majority. There was a noticeable reduction in weight for lambs with large numbers of light trade and trade lambs through the offering. This resulted in a generally cheaper trend however restockers and feeders stepped in to see lambs back to the paddock in greater demand. Grown sheep mostly dearer with restockers again in strong competition.
Young lambs to the paddock $110 to $152/head and Dorper lambs to restock and feed to $24/head better $121 to $146/head. Light trade Dorper lambs slipped $26/head selling $160 to $189/head. Heavy trade Dorpers $178 to $218/head and a shortage of heavy lambs saw a top price of $247/head. Heavy hoggets $127 to $156/head and ram lambs were dearer $140 to $169/head.
Light ewes firm $40 to $75/head with medium weights to $18/head better. Heavy ewes were up $24/head dearer $80 to $130/head. Dorper ewes to restockers made $70/head. Stephen Adams MLA
